Circle + Star = Sand Dollar

Five parts of the beach.

Sun.

Sand.

Salt.

Wind.

Water.

Sand dollars have that five-point star right in the middle. I love that.

It’s such a simple shape, but also so pleasing to look at. The whole shell is just a circle, and then there’s that sharp little star sitting right in the center.

Five points got me thinking about the five things that make a beach day feel right: * sunshine overhead * warm sand under your feet * salt in the air * wind coming off the water * the slow rhythm of the waves

Those are the things that draw us to the beach.

So the star became a kind of marker for all that.

Five points, five reasons we’re drawn to the beach. And the circle around it just holds everything together.

Classic shape, symmetrical, satisfying. A treasure
