Side-by-side comparison of OBA-free canvas art versus OBA canvas art over time, showing color shift and yellowing on the OBA side

Will it fade?

Someone asked me this last week. Fair question.

The answer depends entirely on what the canvas is made with. Some canvas has OBA — optical brightening agents — added to make whites look brighter. The problem is OBAs break down over time, and the canvas yellows and colors shift. They're not used in canvases made to last decades.

The canvas pieces in this shop are printed on fade-resistant, acid-free, pH-neutral canvas that's OBA-free. The fabric is a heavyweight polyester-cotton blend with hand-glued solid wood stretcher bars. It's built to last.

Keep it out of direct sunlight the way you would any art, and it'll outlast the wall it's hanging on.
