Myrtle Beach Memories in Pencil: The Story Behind My Latest Beach Destination Art Sketches
Hi friends! I’m so excited to share something special and cool with you—three brand-new digital sketches inspired by the fun, vibrant memories of Myrtle Beach. These pieces highlight three iconic spots: Murrells Inlet, the Myrtle Beach Pier, and the Grand Strand. If you’re a Myrtle Beach fan, I hope these sketches bring a bit of that Myrtle Beach magic into your home.
How These Beach Art Print Sketches Came to Life
These are digital sketches made from photographs (see the before and after below). Each sketch starts with a picture. For this project, I began with three photographs of these standout South Carolina locations. Each image already captured the beauty and character of Myrtle Beach, but I wanted to bring them to life in a new way.
I’m a big Photoshop person. So, through a lot of trial and error I assembled an extensive process that works perfectly with these Myrtle Beach scenes. The result? Three color pencil sketches that add life to the photographs through color and pencil sketch details like hatch strokes.
Why These Spots?
Murrells Inlet: Known as the seafood capital of South Carolina, this spot holds so much charm with its boardwalks, boats, and beautiful marsh views.

Myrtle Beach Pier: A classic landmark that’s both nostalgic and breathtaking. Whether it’s a sunrise stroll or an afternoon of fishing, this pier is a favorite for so many.

The Grand Strand: The heart of Myrtle Beach, with its lively atmosphere, sandy beaches, and endless memories waiting to be made.

If you’ve ever visited these spots, I bet you have a favorite story to tell about them.
What’s Next? You tell me!
These sketches will be available soon as 5x7 prints (individually or as a set) and as larger canvases in two sizes: 18x26 and 40x55. I’ll keep you posted when they’re ready to order, but for now, I’d love your feedback.
Here’s the fun part: I want to know—what other destinations should I sketch next? What other coastal destinations would you like to see in a colored sketch?
Leave a comment and let me know. Your ideas might inspire my next creation!
