The Making of Coastal Collection: Coastal Art Work Canvases for Ocean Lovers

There's something magical about the beach—the feel of the sand between your toes, the soothing sound of waves crashing, and the invigorating smell of salty air. This love for the beach inspired me to create the Coastal Collection, a series of Coastal Art Work Canvases designed to bring the tranquility and beauty of the coast into your home.

Research and Preparation of the Coastal Art Work

Research is a crucial part of my creative process. I read articles, look at pictures and videos, and make notes about the elements that catch my eye. I want to create pieces that stand out from the crowd, capturing the unique essence of the beach.

When I start designing, I keep two key questions in mind: Would I hang this in my home? Does this image grab my attention and make me want to keep coming back to it? These questions guide me in creating designs that are both personal and appealing to others.

Blank Canvas and Digital Drawing Tablet

Every coastal beach art piece in the Coastal Collection starts with a blank digital canvas and a drawing tablet. I begin by creating an initial base image that captures the essence of my vision. From there, I make various additions and refinements to the design. This process involves choosing colors, textures, and elements that evoke the feeling of the beach.

Achieving the right color tones and contrast involves a lot of trial and error, adjusting saturation, brightness, and color temperature. Some final images consist of 20-30 layers of artwork and effects, all combined into one cohesive piece.

I want a finished piece that is both unique and captivating, aiming to create artwork that I would proudly display in my own home.

Creating the Canvas Sides

One of the unique aspects of the Coastal Collection is the mirrored edges on the canvas sides. This process is time-consuming but essential for a seamless look. I duplicate about 3 inches from each side of the image and flip them and add them to the outside of the canvas image, carefully aligning them to ensure they blend perfectly. So that when the canvas is folded around the bars, the seam will lie perfectly on the corner, and the sides will have a mirrored look that is stunning.

Each canvas size needs a file of specific dimensions for printing. So for one piece, I create 4 edges for each canvas size: small, medium, and large versions. Then I carefully place them properly in the files that go to the printers.

Printing Process

To minimize waste and overproduction, all canvases in the Coastal Collection are printed on demand. This method ensures that we only produce what is needed, reducing trash and promoting sustainability. We use high-performance eco-solvent ink, which is environmentally friendly and produces vibrant, long-lasting prints. The canvas material is a cotton-poly blend, chosen for its durability and high-quality finish.

Stretcher Bars and Assembly

Our stretcher bars are 1.25 inches thick, providing a sturdy foundation that is more robust than the thinner canvases often found in big box stores.

Each canvas frame is assembled by hand, and the canvas is carefully hand-wrapped around the wooden frame. This hands-on approach allows our team to troubleshoot and ensure that each piece is as sturdy and durable as possible.

Finishing Touches

To maintain a clean, polished look, all fasteners and staples are placed on the back of the beach canvas pictures, completely out of view.

We take great care in packing and shipping the finished coastal beach art work to ensure it arrives safely at your doorstep, ready to bring a touch of the beach into your home.
